With a history of playing stages across the country with her Father as a young girl growing up in the music industry, Kim Robins knows how important it is to coddle the dreams of a future bluegrass music star. While on stage at the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Festival, Robins went a step further by inviting 6 year old Abbygayl Amburgey, from Waterloo, Indiana, on stage with her to help belt out the title track from her latest Pinecastle Records release "Raining In Baltimore". Abby is one of Kim's biggest fans and has learned ALL the words. Little Abby stole the hearts of the Festival audience and Kim Robins saw her childhood flashing in front of her. It was nostalgic and emotional for her to say the least.
There are many ways we, as a bluegrass family, can continue to help our music grow and prosper. Support bluegrass radio, buy the music the artists work so hard on to put out for you, attend the Festivals and keep them successful, and please, benefit from Kim's gesture and embrace the interest and talent expressed by the youth for our music. I have had the pleasure of spending time with this vibrant young lady, and let me tell you this, I have no doubts ABBY WILL BE A STAR.
With so much negativity in our world right now, let this be an incredible reminder of why we love bluegrass music, attend Festivals and keep doing what we do! Well done Abby! Right on Kim!
